Tekken 1 - 2 (King I)
A famous luchador from Mexico; there are actually two Kings in the series,
both
of whom wore a jaguar mask in matches.
The first used to be a ruthless street brawler with no care
in the world
except fighting. In one of his fights
King was grievously wounded and collapsed in front of a monastery.
The
Marquez priests saved him from death. After recovering,
King realized how wrong he was and wanted to start a new life.
It
was then he became a Catholic priest and renounced
his old fighting ways. He then became a man with a mission:
his
dream is to build an orphanage so that street children
will have a home to go to and not end up like what he used to be.
Needing finances for the building of the orphanage,
King discovers the King of Iron Fist Tournament.
Against the
monastery's order not to join, King enters the tournament.
He did receive the money, but with a heavy price:
he was
excommunicated from his order.
King once again went back to the streets and soon,
he became miserable and started drinking.
He would have perished had he not been convinced by his old friend,
Armor King, to again wear the Jaguar Mask and
join The Second
Iron Fist Tournament. The second tournament gave King another reason
to live: for the sake of the
children in his orphanage.
After the tournament, King participated in both pro-wrestling
and martial arts tournaments
to win money for his orphanage.
He also taught his fighting skills to the children
under his care as a means of self-defense.
Tekken 3 (King II)
One of them, a young man, took up both the mantle and the mask
shortly
after the first King was killed by Ogre,
and went on to participate in Tekken 3,
effectively becoming King #2. Now
27,
he received further training from Armor King,
only to become furious when Craig Marduk killed Armor King in a
bar brawl.
Tekken 4 (King II)
Upon Marduk's release, paid by King himself,
he sent a letter challenging
Craig to the tournament in Tekken 4.
He defeated Craig easily in Tekken 4, sending him to the hospital,
where King
followed him to deliver a deadly blow. However,
he stepped back and let him live.
Tekken 5 (King II)
Upon being challenged by Craig for the fifth tournament,
King steps on
the ring once again to settle the score once and for all.
In his Tekken 5 ending he and Craig become wrestling partners.
Whether this ending is canon remains to be seen.
